First Run Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
Active Development Limited built the First Run app as a commercial app. This page describes how First Run handles the information it uses when you run with it.
The short version: First Run is a local-first app. It does not have user accounts, does not send your runs or any personal data to our servers, and does not include third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. Everything you record stays on your device and in your Apple Health database (if you grant access).
Information We Collect
First Run collects only the information it needs to coach you through a run. We do not collect or transmit personal information to our own servers.
- Workout data — interval timings, durations, completion records. Stored locally on your device.
- Apple Health data (with your permission) — runs you complete in First Run are saved to the Health app as workouts. We do not read your existing Health data on iPhone. This data lives in your Health database, never on our servers.
- Location data (with your permission, Apple Watch only) — used during an active workout to track distance and the route, and to attach the route to the workout in Apple Health. The route stays in Health; we do not transmit it.
- Local notifications — scheduled by the app on your device for run reminders. These are not push notifications and do not reach our servers.
What We Do Not Collect
- No account, email address, or password.
- No analytics, telemetry, crash reports, or device identifiers sent to us or any third party.
- No advertising or ad-tracking identifiers (no IDFA usage).
- No purchase receipts forwarded to us (the app is currently free and contains no in-app purchases).
Third-Party Services
First Run does not include third-party analytics, advertising, or backend services. The only Apple-provided system services the app uses are HealthKit, CoreLocation, WatchConnectivity, ActivityKit (Live Activity), WidgetKit, and UserNotifications — all of which run on-device and are governed by Apple's own privacy policies.
Device-to-Device Sync
First Run uses Apple's WatchConnectivity framework to sync workout state between your iPhone and Apple Watch. This communication is between your own paired devices and does not pass through our servers.
Data Retention and Deletion
All workout history lives on your device. You can delete individual runs or your entire history at any time from the History tab → swipe to delete, or Settings → "Delete all history". Deleting the app from your device removes all locally stored data. Apple Health entries are managed in the Health app and follow Apple's data controls — First Run does not retain a copy outside Health.
Children's Privacy
First Run is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us so we can help.
Security
Because First Run keeps data on your device and does not transmit it to our servers, security of your run history depends on your device's own protections (passcode, Face ID/Touch ID, iCloud Backup encryption). Apple Health data is protected by iOS's standard Health data encryption.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by posting the new policy on this page. This policy is effective as of 2026-05-28.
